Day Ten - Blog Post by Ryan Barthelemy
Day 10 – Ryan Barthelemy
Our team woke up this morning tired but very refreshed.
After our quick, makeshift breakfast we were ready to start our first day back
at the school with the children. Even though it was a chilly walk to the school
we were very optimistic about the day. Thankfully, the children were glad to
see us back and were still respectfully calling us “Teachah!”. It was a huge
blessing to our team to see the kids still adoring every one of us but we had
quite a lot of work to do! Many of us taught classes to the 4th
graders, 5th graders, 6th graders and 7th
graders such as history, math, and science. Other people on our team helped the
younger kids and played outside with them. The morning soon moved into the
afternoon and we were still working hard. Most of us took a turn helping empty
a little abandoned fish pond that had tall plants and slabs of concrete in it
and not a drop of water. We continued to play with the kids and help in their
classes as well. The afternoon zoomed by and before we knew it, it was time for
our lesson. Today’s lesson was about Rahab and her contribution to the fall of
Jericho. The girls on our team took charge of the lesson today and they did a
great job! They had colored big pictures of the characters in the story and
showed them to the kids while the story was narrated by Gaby. After the story
the children made little bracelets with letter beads spelling out the word
faith. These were for the kids to take to remember Rahab’s faith in God. The
bracelets were also made with red string (you can probably guess the
significance) and other colored beads. After the craft we said goodbye to the
kids and walked back to the house happy with how the day had turned out.
Love the awesome soccer skills with a volleyball... So glad the kids got to see all that talent.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all are working very hard and having long days. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your post Ryan! Impressed to see Jonah doing manual labor with the wheelbarrow.
