Day Five - Blog Post by Isaac Huffman
Day 5- Isaac Huffman
Today was the third day waking up early and not having
enough time to finish my breakfast. Once I got to the school Jonah, Michael,
and I had to grade nine 7th grade science quizzes. Thinking that it
will go fast it took us an hour and half, mostly because none of us really knew
how to read cursive that well. Finally, after some hard work of grading the
nine quizzes we turned it in. I went to help the 1st grade and when I
got there I was greeted by a bunch of little kids who started to crawl all over
me and forgetting that they had to finish their work.
Finally, the kids got to go outside and play with us but it
quickly turned to WWE where the kids will kick and punch us. But I think I liked
that more than hearing “teacher let me get on your back” a hundred times. The
reason that I think the kids are so physical is because they don’t always get
the attention at home that we have been able to give them.
As the school day came to an end the kids started to finally
calm down and we got to teach the kids about Moses by acting it out. The kids
were very interested in the story and asked a bunch of question about it after
the skit (It’s good to see that kids are learning more about God). Before leaving,
like always all the kids gave us hugs and high fives. One kid thought I was
leaving to go back home and started to tear up, and after telling him that I
was coming back tomorrow he smiled and gave me a big hug. Once we got back to the
house several us went into the goat pen and got charged by the male goat. Surprisingly
none of us got injured during that. Looking back on this day, I think it was
one of the best day this summer. I am so happy I got the opportunity to hang
out with these amazing kids. We’ll see you guys back home soon, bye.
Great post Isaac. I'm so glad you are there. Keep up the good work and thank you for keeping us informed. I crack up when I think that you don't know how to read cursive. And why were you in the goat pen? Did Jonah dare you? Don't give in to him if he did.
